Website Refresh/Outlook Reframe

I’ve not been hugely vocal of recent, but I’ve been working away in the background with new celebrant experiences, a new ‘day job’ and some new branding! Have a read and explore my chic new website- couldn’t be prouder!

It’s been a while since I updated my site or posted a blog- but I’ve now given it a little refresh and couldn’t be prouder!

There have been so many times that I’ve considered paying someone to create this website, and some of you might look at this and think that it really would have been money well spent! But technology is my absolute kryptonite, and a huge part of my celebrant journey is about growth, up-skilling and learning, which is why I’ve persevered with my little website. I couldn’t be prouder! There are still so many things I want to do here, but I’ll get there with it, little by little.

I also gave my invoices a facelift a while back and I am OBSESSED, so hopefully you get to check one out soon 😉

So, where have I been?

I started a new job at the end of last year, so a huge part of this year has been about finding my feet in my new routine and environment. The other significant part has been making the most of the financial stability that comes with having contracted hours and filling every day of my newfound annual leave with adventure. Many flights have been purchased!

Another reason behind the radio silence is that the idea of HAVING to use social media to market myself as a 30-something year old celebrant does not sit well with me. In fact, it instills the kind of panic that makes me bury my head in the sand and just completely ignore something. Perhaps I’m a cliche, but I just want to live in the moment and not be worrying about getting a great shot- every time I have tried to, I’ve always missed the magic. To me, social media is for videos of cute doggos and wholesome events and staying connected to my loved ones through the medium of memes and reels.

I’m so proud of my small biz owning friends who are smashing the algorithms, but I’m quite happy plodding along and seeing what the universe sends my way.

Back to why we’re here- CEREMONIES!

This year hasn’t been totally devoid of ceremonies, and the season is not over yet! I’ve worked with some wonderfully loving families so far and even my very first pony!

Check out Otis, one couple’s lovely rescue pony who strutted down the aisle with a flower girl on his back. (This photo was taken during his rehearsal, before he’d had his hair done) It looked like he was going to steal the show until the stunning bride took everyone’s breath away as she practically floated down the aisle.

Community not competition

I’ve had the pleasure of befriending some phenomenal celebrants this year, so I’m doubly blessed to not only still be learning with each of my ceremonies and every new element, but I’ve also been learning from the masters at work.

Looking back at that naive newbie celebrant coming out of training, excited to be self-employed after working in some pretty crappy jobs, I never thought about how lonely it would be to be a sole trader.  Sure, I get to meet amazing families and support them through their milestones but I’d never considered that I wouldn’t have a team to debrief with or check in with or learn alongside. I’ve got my course mates, who are all in separate stages of their journey, but they’re also dotted around the country and having very different experiences. I’ve now built a super little ‘sparkle’ of celebrants that I can recommend if I’m unavailable or simply not the right fit, can call on in a crisis, and can swap stories and lessons with.

It’s a pretty sweet place to be
